This cushion is handmade for Stitch by Stitch in Gujarat from handwoven, organic, sustainable kala cotton in a narrow woven stripe.  Embroidered by hand by local women artisans using a simple, traditional embroidery stitch, reminiscent of feathers, reinterpreted for a contemporary, minimalist look. The neutral cotton fabric and monochrome embroidery ensures this piece will look equally good in a modern interior, or as part of a more traditional decorating scheme. This simple design combines well with other more complex embroidered cushions in the Rabari collection, to create an eclectic but harmonious look.

Kala cotton is a hardy Old World variety of cotton which is indigenous to the arid Kutch region of India. It is grown organically, and without the need for additional irrigation, other than rainfall. This makes it probably the most water-efficient and sustainable cotton in the world, so you can rest assured you are buying an eco-friendly piece for your home! Natural plant dyes are used to colour the yarn.
