These fresh cushions are handmade for Stitch by Stitch in Gujarat from handwoven, unbleached, organic, sustainable kala cotton fabric. Block printed “stitches” are traversed by neat rows of hand embroidered kantha stitches, in red thread, creating a visual pun, but also adding tactility to the face of the cushion.

The design combines the traditional Indian artisan skills of block printing and kantha stitching, with a clean, modern, geometric look.

Kala cotton is an ancient, sustainable species of cotton, indigenous to the Kutch region of India, which is purely rain-fed and grown without pesticides or chemical fertilisers.

Orders of two or more cushions are packaged in a handmade cotton drawstring bag which can be used for clothes storage or as a travel laundry bag.
