This little lumbar cushion is handmade specially for Stitch by Stitch in rich red, naturally-dyed wool from our award-winning master handloom weavers. It is perfect to add a bit of back support, and a pop of colour, on a small chair or sofa.

The cloth is woven on traditional pit looms in the villages of Kutch - a remote corner of Gujarat famed for its highly-skilled weavers and dyers. Lac Red is a traditional, natural dye extracted from a scale insect native to Asia, and has been used as a dye, and to make lacquer, for centuries. Our weavers are at the forefront of reviving this ancient dyeing technique.

The local, or desi, wool is hand spun which gives it a wonderful, irregular texture, full of movement.  A hand-fringed border adds to the tactile quality of these beautifully made pieces.

The wool has a subtle stripe within the weave.
