A Short Film Of Weaving Our New Throws at Bristol Weaving Mill

We are thrilled to share with you this short film telling the story of weaving our Barley and Barton throws at Bristol Weaving Mill in southwest England.

We chose to work with Bristol Weaving Mill because they are a small, dynamic, experimental and creative mill. Their expertise meant we could realise our rather complex (in production terms) designs. The throws are woven using the double cloth technique, which means they are reversible. For texture we chose a Donegal Tweed wool, spun in Ireland, and a little bit of alpaca ensures a very soft handle.

The designs are loosely based on our Makalu and Jannu rug patterns, but as we drew them up, put them into repeat and scaled them down, they became something quite different! A nice long fringe all round is an unusual added touch.

Filmed by our very talented friend Beth Evans, with additional filming and editing by Tom Farmer.
