We know you love ethically and sustainably produced home products, like Stitch by Stitch textiles. One company that is pioneering such an approach to tropical hardwood production is FORESTA. We were delighted when they asked to borrow one of our handwoven, felt radhi rugs for the launch of their first collection of small furniture pieces and home accessories during 3 Days of Design at Nyt i Bo’s minimalist furniture and lighting showroom in Copenhagen at the beginning of September. The juxtaposition of their woods with the boiled wool in our rug was beautiful.

FORESTA explain “We work with sustainably managed plantations in Honduras to ensure a fair wage falls back into the hands of the producers. Through FORESTA’s timber trade, foresters can sell directly to buyers at a fair price and in quantities which are not damaging to the lands and forests, and buyers can be assured that the wood they are purchasing comes from plantations that are ICF certified.”

FORESTA’s first collection was designed by Rebecca Goddard, a Berlin-based blogger, visual editor and designer. We first connected with Rebecca when she interviewed Stitch by Stitch for her blog, RG Daily - you can read the interview here.

Rebecca’s designs for FORESTA include an occasional table, a bench, an arc-shaped candle holder, tray and clothes hanger, the designs of which are pared down to their essential forms. Timeless in design, the natural characteristics of teak and mahogany woods really shine through with enduring quality.
