The Campaign for Wool Interiors Collection

Wool Collection: Interiors.  Fleece wallhanging by The Soft World, pendant shades by Naomi Paul.

This weekend was the last chance to catch the Campaign for Wool's celebration of wool for interiors exhibition in London.

Wool Collection: Interiors pulled together over fifty stunning woollen items for interiors and lifestyle, curated by the talented Arabella McNie (curator of Wool House 2013).

LU150 lambswool fabric designed by Wallace Sewell to celebrate 150 years of London Underground.

As I looked at the array of items on show - all of an exceptionally high standard in terms of visual and tactile interest - it struck me how versatile a fibre wool is, and how differently it can be worked.  Products ranged from woollen satchels by Cherchbi through the more expected range of interiors items such as cushions and rugs, to spherical ball seats with knitted covers (by Mary Goodman) and knitted lamp shades from Naomi Paul.

We all know that wool has intrinsic insulating properties allowing us to keep cool in the heat, and warm in the cold.  It also has natural bounce-back, so as a floor covering it will resist flattening, and in a blanket or throw, will resist creasing.  It is also annually renewable, of course, durable and bio-degradable, making it a sustainable and eco-friendly choice of fibre.

We love working in wool.  Our radhi rugs are a modern take on traditional heavy blankets hand woven in Nepal, and we're putting the finishing touches to our woollen Desi Blanket Collection, hand woven in Kutch, India and embroidered with Appletons english crewel wool by our talented Kutch embroiderers.

For info on our new Desi Blankets as soon as they arrive, and to be kept up to date with other developments, please join our mailing list!
